Now that Swedish X-Factor has flopped in the ratings, the producers must be regretting their decision to pull their own competing show Swedish Idol off the air this season. Especially when the artists for 2013 Melodifestivalen are announced and the talent is FULL of Idol alumni hoping to follow Loreen (ANOTHER graduate of the Idol hit factory) into Eurovision.
Erik Segerstedt is no stranger to the MF stage, having competed in 2010 with his bandmates in EMD (Mattias and Danny, both Idol alumni as well). Erik is back this year in a duet with Norwegian pop queen Tone Damli, with a song written by, among others, bandmate Mattias Larsson and Idol graduate superstar Måns Zelmerlöw). Here he is with his previous solo hit:
Eddie Razaz was a top ten Idol contestant in 2009, and this year makes his MF debut with an entry penned by the team behind EUPHORIA, Boström and G:Son, after a few chart hits together with his Rebound! bandmate, Idol buddy Rabih.
Robin Stjernberg was runnerup in 2011 Idol, and also making his MF debut:
And last but not least, 2011 Swedish Idol champion Amanda Fondell is making her first appearance on the MF stage:
With all this young talent on display, let’s hope that IDOL comes back to Sweden and doesn’t go the way of former MF training ground FAME FACTORY (which produced Fame, Jessica Andersson, Mathias Holmgren, Linda Bengtzing, Maja Gullstrand, Jimmy Janson, Sara Löfgren, and Anders Fernette, among others).
